Miss Independent

"The older your child gets, the more she realizes she's an individual separate from you. With her growing identity comes a need to do things on her own." Says the website, Babycenter.

Everyday is a new adventure in the city for Georgie. Her stare is so intense when she's looking around in her stroller or carrier. There's a bench that's up the street from us; On a street called Court. It's where all the shopping and restaurants are. Most days, her and I will sit and people watch. Whether it's at nannies pushing strollers, trucks being unloaded, people grocery shopping, dogs barking, or cars constantly honking, she's enthralled. There's no more crying every minute to be fed or wanting mama to rock her.

Georgie is developing a new sense of self and I can notice it progressing everyday. She's able to hold her own bottle, know when nap time is, scream at me when I don't pay attention to her and charm the pants off everyone she meets (sometimes I'll even get free coffee out of it).

I often forget she's only six months old with her full head of white hair and bracelets to match. Georgie is growing up before my eyes and I wait in anticipation to see what the next day will bring. Though I get frustrated sometimes when she only wants mama, deep down it's something I cherish and hope it never fades.

  1. Ashley she is beautiful. Her eyes could get you more than coffee sometime. Maybe a bagel.
