Fashion Sense...Less

The weekend before I found out I was pregnant, my mom came into town for Mother's Day. A tradition we started about four years ago.

Her visits consist mainly of vintage and consignment shopping. She's my 'fashion guru' and has an eye for what looks best on people. The ability to convince a person to wear something out of their comfort zone and wear it with confidence.

I'm not much for prints. There's a consignment store down the street from me called Eva Gentry. The store carries labels such as Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Rick Owens, etc. The reason I love consignment stores is because you can find pieces that no one else has, the classics (and not to mention, at a less expensive price). My mother picked out a long sleeve, above the knee, printed dress with gold buttons. I wore it that night when we went to Pastis to meet Ray and his mother for dinner.

When finding out I was pregnant, I swore that I wouldn't become one of those mothers that wore sweat pants and sports bra's all day. I was determined to keep my appearance fresh and fashionable. Well, I recently noticed that I'm washing the same two shirts and shorts more often than not - a black and grey, T-back tank by Alexander Wang and cut-off, Levi jean shorts with a sports bra to match. My wardrobe is officially collecting dust!

I'm looking forward to Fall which will permit me to take advantage of my addiction...coats. A simply t-shirt and jeans isn't as boring when you throw on a purple, military style, corduroy coat by Tocca.

I'm starting Georgie young when it comes to vintage and consignment shopping - a tradition I hope to pass down to her!
