City Hall

I had to run errands in the city yesterday and decided to surprise gram at work. She works downtown at City Hall. I took the 6 train down and the 5 train home. Is relatively convenient to get there, so I thought it'd be a nice surprise.

Talk about busy! There were people by the bus loads down there. City Hall is also next to the Brooklyn Bridge so I can understand why the area was so dense with tourist. Gram aka Connie always talks about work but I underestimated her position there. It's pretty legit. She's the main secretary to Council Member James Oddo.

She had to meet me outside by the gates and before I entered, I had to pass through security. We walked up a grand, entry staircase that lead up to her office. The main entry was all being remodeled due to the earthquake which left a lot of the marble cracked. Connie took us for a tour and as politically challenged as I am, it was very interesting. We sat at George Washington's desk and walked through the office of chambers (I think that's what it's called) where all the city council meetings are held.

You know I've lived in the city for going on seven years and have yet to see some of the major things that make this city so special. I'm looking forward in exploring them my family!
